Kada se učitelj paprika požalio Knezu da djeca ne dolaze u školu, zajedno sa poljarem Lijanom i roditeljima organizirali su potjeru i pronašli su skrovište djece. Zahvaljujući što su sreli Nikoletinu Bursaća oslobađaju djecu i odluče da odu u vareš da pronađu učiteljicu Lanu. Uskoro počinje rat.
